The team at Terry Peterson Residential is excited to offer newly constructed homes in the beautiful area of Suffolk, Virginia. We have two separate communities, in North Suffolk and Downtown Suffolk. But what makes these areas so great? And what makes each area unique?

We’ve put together the following homebuyers guide to help you determine if North Suffolk or Downtown Suffolk is the right place for you to call home.

North Suffolk

Conveniently and centrally located, North Suffolk is just a short drive away from the surrounding Hampton Roads cities of Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Newport News and Hampton. Residents of North Suffolk will find it easy to commute to any of these surrounding areas whether it be for work, travel or fun.

This area is also popular amongst military members as it is centrally located to most Hampton Roads military bases. Also in North Suffolk is the ODU Tri-Cities center and the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center.

Our communities in North Suffolk are both nestled in a setting designed to reward walking, residents, office workers, shoppers, researchers, students and teachers can stroll to and from retail shops, restaurants, medical offices, conference rooms and learning centers.

Here are some of our favorite destinations in North Suffolk:

  • The Egg Bistro

  • Vintage Tavern

  • River Stone Chop House

  • Rajput Indian Cuisine

  • New retail center featuring Kroger Marketplace, DSW, Ross, Rite Aid, Great Clips, Ulta Cosmetics and more. Enjoy dining at Zaxby's or Texas Roadhouse.

Downtown Suffolk

Downtown Suffolk and its surrounding neighborhoods are known for being a quaint, bustling community located toward central-south Suffolk. Residents here enjoy the ability to shop, dine and play at the many restaurants, museums, galleries, hotels, performance venues and businesses in downtown Suffolk.

Rich in culture, downtown Suffolk has an attractive Southern character and honors the local history through a number of cultural shops, museums, galleries and more. Each year there are multiple events, festivals and parades hosted in Downtown Suffolk that are a great time. One of our favorite events is coming up soon, the Grand Illumination Parade on November 17.

There is also a wide variety of locally-owned restaurants. Below are some of our favorites!

  • The Plaid Turnip
